If you plan to visit Windsor Castle, please take note of the following.
Windsor Castle will be closed on the following dates in 2009:
15 June
25-26 December
Tours due to visit Windsor Castle on these days will instead visit Hampton Court Palace and Gardens, home to the Kings and Queens of Britain since the time of Henry VIII.
In addition to these closures, the State Apartments are closed:
13-14 June
Visitors can still enjoy the extensive Castle Precincts, St George's Chapel (except on Sundays and certain other dates - please see below), Queen Mary's Dolls' House and the exhibition in the Drawings Gallery.
St. George's Chapel is open daily but closed to visitors on Sundays as services are held throughout the day. In addition, St George's Chapel is closed on the following dates:
12-15 June
24 December
As a working Royal palace, the Castle is used frequently by The Queen for State ceremonies and official entertaining and opening arrangements may change with no notice.
Changing of the Guard
The changing of the Guard takes place at Windsor Castle on alternate days at 11:00, weather permitting. Changing of the Guard does not take place on Sunday.
