Day 1: Join our train at Kings Cross Station and depart at 7am. The journey takes approximately 4 1/2 hours. On arrival, make your own way to your hotel and start exploring this exciting city. You have included a hop-on hop-off sightseeing tour to make the most of your time in Edinburgh and entrance to Edinburgh Castle is also included.

Day 2: An amazing trip to Loch Ness and the chance to go Monster hunting! Heading north from Edinburgh we pass the imposing ramparts of Stirling Castle, skirt the Trossachs (Rob Roy country) before crossing the wilds of Rannoch Moor and onto dramatic Glencoe. Our tour takes us past Fort William and Britain's highest mountain, the mighty Ben Nevis before following the Great Glen and stopping in the village of Fort Augustus by the shores of the mysterious Loch Ness. You have the option to take a boat trip on Loch Ness, explore or simply relax in a gorgeous wee Highland village. Enjoy our free locally produced picnic lunch.

Our return journey passes through 'Monarch of the Glen' country, south to Perthshire and the historic town of Dunkeld. We then view the spectacular Forth Bridges before arriving back in the Capital around 8pm.

Day 3: Enjoy last minute shopping, visit the attractions on your "must see" list or stroll through the city centre - it's your day!!

Evan Evans Tours

This tour is booked through Evan Evans Tours, the excursion to Loch Ness is operated by Highland Explorer Tours.

Days of operation:

Tour Starts: 6.30am Kings Cross Station (outside the information booth on the main concourse)
Tour Finishes: 10.20pm Kings Cross Station

The time on your ticket is when you will meet your Evan Evans Representative who will give you your information packs and rail tickets. Your train will depart approximately 15–30 minutes after this.

Edinburgh Train Times:

Outbound: Train departs London Kings Cross 07:02, arrives Edinburgh 11:02.
Return: Train departs Edinburgh 17:13, arrives London Kings Cross 22:10.

Loch Ness Explorer (Day 2):

Tour starts from the Royal Mile at 08:00 (check-in 07:45).
Tour finishes back in Edinburgh at 20:00.

Please note, you do NOT require a printed copy of your eticket. On booking, you'll recieve an email confirmation with your eticket. If you don't have access to a printer, an electronic copy on your phone is sufficient to join the tour.

This Tour is unescorted on Days 1 and 3. The excursion to Loch Ness on Day 2 is operated by Highland Explorer Tours, whose terms and conditions apply • Child age: 5-11 yrs inclusive. This Tour is not suitable for children under 5 years old. We will make every effort to fulfil any requests you have for seating on the train, however this cannot be guaranteed.

Overnight accommodation: prices stated are per person, based on two people sharing a twin/double room (single travellers pay a single person supplement).

Train is comfortable, only the return train schedule is a bit late, arriving London already 10:30pm. For a tourist not knowing London will be difficult since it was so late. A couple of times we felt lost, but that was my fault for not researching Edinburgh properly (public transportation and a city map). The trip to the Highlands was glorious. Our guide, Mahri, was superb!
