The Royal Windsor Steam Express

Our destination on this fantastic tour is the historic town of Windsor, a town with a rich royal heritage and centuries of history to explore. Our steam train journey is one-way, giving you the flexibility you need to fully explore this beautiful town.

Departing from Waterloo Station, enjoy an unrestricted view as we pass many of London's most famous landmarks including Big Ben and the London Eye. There will be a full selection of drinks and snacks to purchase onboard as we head out of the city towards Windsor and Eton.

Windsor

Crowned by Windsor Castle, Windsor has a vibrant mix of history, culture and heritage. As you will discover, Windsor is a town full of history and charm, and there is plenty to do here besides visiting the castle.

Watch a typical display of British pomp and pageantry at the Changing of the Guard Ceremony. During this procession, members of the Household Division heading for the castle march through the streets of Windsor in their iconic red tunics and bearskin hats.

Relax and unwind in one of the many beautiful parks and gardens, such as the Savill Garden and Windsor Great Park, or enjoy a traditional cream tea in one of the many quaint cafés dotted around town.

Windsor Castle

From William the Conqueror all the way through to Queen Elizabeth II, kings and queens have called Windsor Castle home for more than 900 years. As well as being the ancestral home of the British monarchy, this beautiful castle is also the largest occupied castle in the world. Today, Windsor Castle is a favoured weekend residence of Her Majesty The Queen. Upon arrival, be sure to cast a glance at the flag pole of the Round Tower. If the Royal Standard flag is flying, The Queen is at home!

There is plenty to see and do at this historic castle, including paying a visit to the State Apartments, the grandest in Her Majesty's kingdom. Its rooms were intended to rival the Palace of Versailles in France, and each is adorned with priceless treasures and art from around the world.

At St George's Chapel, you will visit the site of one of the most memorable weddings of recent memory. It was here where HRH Prince Harry married Meghan Markle in 2018 in a ceremony watched by millions around the world. This beautiful chapel is also the final resting place of several kings and queens, including famous previous monarchs such as Henry VIII.
