Throughout the year their expert guides bring this extraordinary open-air theatre to life in a 50 minute guided tour, with colourful stories of the 1599 Globe, the reconstruction process in the 1990s and how the building works today as an imaginative and experimental theatre space. Take a seat ‘within this wooden ‘O’’ – listen, absorb and ask questions as the secrets of the Globe unfold.

The iconic Globe Theatre is a faithful reconstruction of the open-air playhouse in which Shakespeare worked, and for which he wrote many of his most famous plays! Their expert guide-storytellers provide a fascinating 50 minute tour of the Globe Theatre auditorium, vividly recreating colourful stories of the 1599 Playhouse, the London Shakespeare would have known and the Globe reconstruction process in the 1990s. Their guides will also bring the theatre to life for visitors, exploring how the ‘wooden ‘O’’ works today as an imaginative and experimental space for performance.

Tours are available in English only, with written information available in English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Russian, Japanese or Simplified Chinese.

Summer:
Monday: 9.00am - 5.00pm
Tuesday - Saturday: 9.00am - 12.30pm
Sunday: 9.00am - 11.30am

Winter:
Daily: 10.00am - 5.30pm
Closed 24th and 25th December

Please arrive at the entrance of the Groundling Gates on Bankside 10 minutes prior to your booked tour time and present your Evan Evans e-ticket. These are the large black decorative iron gates in front of the theatre, visible from Bankside Pier.

Evan Evans e-ticket may be shown on your mobile device. A printed copy of your ticket is not required. Please note, subject to activity taking place on stage due to the nature of a working theatre, certain restrictions may apply on your Tour, including photography. Guided Tours take place outdoors in all weathers so we recommend appropriate clothing and footwear
